He Said, She Said: Parenting Madness

Parenting Madness

Angus and I are learning a lot about not adding noise to the teenage brain, and we are calling ourselves forward to be the adults and take responsibility for our emotional experience. There is no better way to learn this than to see that even teenagers are not responsible for how we feel. We can only ever feel our thinking in the moment. No one and no thing is responsible for that. And even when we know this, we do forget, and there are times when we fail miserably to not be reactive.

Angus had one of these experiences on Monday taking our youngest for her driving test. The goods news is that it is possible to build back rapport even after bad behavior. Sometimes we have to be persistent and not get discouraged in the process when attempts are rebuffed, but we all have the innate intelligence within us that brings us back to stability and inner peace. And we can use our creative potential to figure out how to get things back on track. Parenting is definitely one of the best spiritual practices we have.

Rohini and Angus are both coaches. They work with individuals, leaders, and organizations to increase performance and success. They also love working with couples and helping them reduce conflict and discord so they can experience more love and harmony in their relationships. They co-facilitate individualized three-day couples intensives that support the deepening of connection and understanding. They work with couples who are struggling and couples who would like to deepen the love and intimacy they already have. Rohini is the author of Marriage (The Soul-Centered Series Book 1) and founder of The Soul-Centered Series: Psychology, Spirituality and the Teachings of Sydney Banks being offered in Santa Monica, California starting October 2018.
