Love Is The Way Forward
I just watched the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle. I was surprised to find myself so deeply moved. I especially loved the rendition of ‘Stand By Me’ performed by Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir and Bishop Michael Curry’s Sermon. My favorite part of his sermon was:
…think and imagine a world where love is the way. Imagine our homes and families when love is the way. Imagine neighborhoods and communities where love is the way. Imagine governments and nations where love is the way. Imagine business and commerce when love is the way. Imagine this tired old world when love is the way, unselfish, sacrificial redemptive. When love is the way, then no child will go to bed hungry in this world ever again. When love is the way, we will let justice roll down like a mighty stream and righteousness like an ever-flowing brook. When love is the way, poverty will become history. When love is the way, the earth will be a sanctuary. When love is the way, we will lay down our swords and shields down, down by the riverside to study war no more. When love is the way, there’s plenty good room, plenty good room, for all of God’s children. Because when love is the way, we actually treat each other, well, like we are actually family.
The way to that world comes from each of us knowing and experiencing the truth who we are. It will come from us expressing what is within us. Our true nature is that world. It already exists. It is the Authentic Self. The vision comes to fruition through each one of us experiencing and knowing it for ourselves so we look in the direction of love more and get less drawn into creating the vision of our fear.
The vision of love being the way is the inspiration behind me presenting The Soul-Centered Series this year. The teachings of Sydney Banks are not the only teachings that point in the direction of love. All spiritual teachings point to the truth of who we are, but his teachings have been the most impactful in my life, and the teachers in this series are the ones who have truly not only supported my own transformation but also made profound differences in the world through their work. They are master practitioners.
I feel blessed to provide a space for the spiritual understanding that Sydney Banks uncovered and taught so elegantly and simply to continue to be shared by these teachers. They will be unfettered from having to put Sydney Banks’ teachings into any form and will cut to the heart of their spiritual understanding based on what they learned from him. It will be a return to the roots of the understanding where they will dig deep and leave it all on the table so they can impact people’s lives and have the light of the understanding continue to spread, heal, and set people free. In this freedom, it is only natural for us to create the vision of love.

This cycle can be exhausting and never-ending, because there will always be something to improve about yourself, from that mindset. Your ability to enjoy life comes from being present in the moment rather than caught up in habitual, negative thoughts that take you out of the Now. Sydney Banks’ wisdom supports you in becoming aware of how you get seduced by your limited personal thinking and thus, create a painful reality of misunderstanding, fear and restriction. When you recognize how and why this happens, you can step free of the pattern. This understanding assists you to dismiss unhelpful thoughts and not take them seriously. When you no longer give authority to the fear-based thoughts in your consciousness, all you are left with is happiness. Through the teachings of Sydney Banks, you can see how your psychological functioning works, which makes you less compelled to follow those thoughts that do not serve you. Becoming more aware of the wholeness and integration of both your human and spiritual natures helps to ground you in the unchanging essence of who you are, and ride out the ups and downs of your emotional experience more gracefully. Accepting the normalcy of your humanness will naturally reduce your anxiety and fear and enhance your joy and happiness in each moment. One of the first areas people often experience profound transformation from the teachings of Sydney Banks is in their relationships, both personal and professional. While it often seems like another person’s irritation, anger, indifference, insensitivity, rudeness, etc., directly affects your experience, in reality your disturbance is a product of your own individual thinking. By making someone else responsible for how you feel, that person automatically becomes the cause of your suffering. Once you understand that you always have a place of well-being inside, independent of another’s behavior, it is easier to maintain equanimity through their changing moods and behaviors. Romantically, you may experience deeper love and intimacy with your partner, but the teachings benefit all relationships. This awareness supports more authentic connection and expression, while facilitating greater understanding, improved communication, reduced reactivity, more acceptance of self and others, and improved ability to work out differences and find common ground. Best of all, just one person shifting in a relationship is enough to transform it.
